About Us

Founded June 2014, located very near Orlando, Florida, OConnor Aerials is a commercial drone company providing aerial video and photo services using small drones. Our pilot is FAA Part 107 certified and OConnor Aerials has $1 million commercial liability coverage for each flight.

 

Video Post-production and Drone Work

OConnor Aerials not only flies drones, we can edit your videos as well. We also have motion graphics capability to animate your logo and create any graphics needed for your video.

In addition to the HD quality video and razor sharp photos, our drone-based aerial mapping capabilities create incredibly accurate aerial maps of construction sites, open pit mines, agriculture, architecture, real estate development, environmental impact studies, roof and infrastructure assessment.

OConnor Aerials creates maps that have a resolution from 5 cm per pixel (2 inches) up to 1 cm per pixel (.39 inches) because we fly our drones between 200 feet to 265 feet above the ground. By comparison, Google Earth's map resolution is 15 meters per pixel or 45 feet per pixel because the satellites they use are over 400 miles above our planet! More importantly, OConnor Aerials' maps are current, Google Earth's maps aren't.

Photogrammetric maps captured by drones allow you to annotate and measure lengths and distances, calculate areas and volumetrics of stockpiles of almost any type: metal, pipes, dirt, sand, wood, etc. and then you can share or send these annotated maps online, viewable on any device, anywhere. Travel, time, manpower, liability, and expenses are greatly reduced, not to mention keeping a tight rein on your budget by avoiding costly construction mistakes, and keeping within local and Federal codes and regulations.

Mapping flights can last from a few minutes to an hour or so, depending on the size of the area to be mapped. Image processing time is measured in a few hours depending on the number of images, usually around 1 minute processing time per image. The result of a drone mapping mission will provide you more actionable data than that captured by expensive manned aircraft or ground-crew based laser data collection which does not include what can be "seen" from the air.

Through our aerial drone mapping service, we can provide you the ability to annotate photomosaic maps of your site to keep you up to date on its progress and whether or not it is following your plans by simply comparing one map against another as well as making sure "ground truth" maps match what the original construction plan called for.

 

These maps will allow you to keep track of stockpile quantities through volumetric measurements that you can calculate using your tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. LAS files created from point cloud data derived from these photogrammetric maps, which allows you to import the LAS into a Autodesk's Autocad 2016 app for BIM. DTM or Digital Terrain Modeling and DEM or Digital Elevation Modeling data will be available. Accurate data obtained by drone can be critical on projects where local, state, and Federal regulations have to be adhered to and have been verified with visual proof and quantifiable data.

This data captured by our drone will also provide you the ability to view a 3D model of the area that was mapped. Keep in mind manned aircraft such as a fixed-wing Cessna or rotary wing helicopter cannot capture this kind of data with the GPS precision that a drone can flying a pre-programmed flight path that we create.

Roof Documentation & Assessment:

OConnor Aerials can also perform aerial roof documentation of something as small as a single family dwelling all the way up to industrial sized roof, reducing the time it takes to walk a roof, helping minimize work-related injuries and potential falls from high elevations and/or steep roof angles. Note the two roof images below where a ridge cap fell apart in a storm and was repaired for $75, saving the client hundreds if not thousands of dollars in potential damages resulting from future rainstorms.
