Bert O'Connor

Owner, O'Connor Aerial Videos & Editing LLC

I have a B.A. degree in Mass Communications from the University of Central Florida, Video and Film production concentration. I have been working in the visual communications business since 1978, working for companies such as Lockheed Martin, Time Warner, AH&LA Educational Institute, The Walt Disney Company, and Bruno White.

Since 1971, my passion for great image-making has lead me to become part of the new drone industry.

OConnor Aerials provides not only drone services but also HD video editing and DVD authoring. I have an extensive background in post-production of commercial and industrial video projects such as Hollywood movie trailers, broadcast TV shows, training & certification programs, how-to videos, promos, etc.

Since June 2014 I have become fully involved in creating my drone company. These last 2 1/2 years have been spent preparing for the FAA to finally allow companies like mine to fly drones commercially and legally under their new Part 107 Federal Aviation Regulation starting August 29, 2016. So in September 2016 OConnor Aerial Videos & Editing LLC achieved its FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot In Command certification with sUAS rating.

Safety is my number one priority, mitigating any potential for danger supersedes all other considerations when flying a drone, that is why every commercial drone flight I make is covered by $1 Million commercial liability insurance policy.

Using aerial drones for video, photography, and precision mapping is an exciting new tool to aid in construction, agriculture, architecture, archaeology, environmentalism, natural and manmade disasters, roof and infrastructure assessments, as well as animal conservation, is not only a game changer compared to older and slower manual methods, but is faster, safer, greatly reduces liability, and is a more cost-effective approach than was previously accomplished with manned aircraft. What usually took days to complete, such as traditional ground-based mapping, the same tasks can be completed from the air using drones can be measured in hours, not days, with as little as 1% to 2% error. And these drones can repeat these tasks quickly and cheaply and thus aiding traditional survey methods with additional verification of data created through ground-based methods.

Aerial photography and videography captured by drone creates stunning imagery in ways that couldn't be accomplished before this technology existed. Real estate, architectural, conservation, art, all benefit from photo and video captured, quickly, simply, and stunningly with drones.

I employ a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone:

DJI Phantom 3 Professional, an  advanced aerial platform with a 12.75mp camera that shoots geotagged still images used to create maps and it records video from 1080p HD up to 4K Ultra HD video. It weighs approx. 2 pounds, uses an onboard LiPo battery for power and has a flight duration of 18 - 23 minutes.
